Weekly Baking Project: Coke Float

This week Dagan chose to make coke floats. He was says it was because they got to have coke floats on the Disney Cruise in the Oceaneer's Lab after answering trivia questions. For our coke float we made Philadelphia style vanilla ice cream using heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract and vanilla beans from Papua New Guinea. We located Papua New Guinea on our world map.

We heated the ice cream base to dissolve the sugar, then chilled it in the fridge. We churned the ice cream in our ice cream maker and then froze it in the freezer. Then we whipped our own whipped cream using a whisk attachment and our stand mixer. We talked about how the cream changed consistency. We scooped our ice cream into a mug, added coke, piped our whipped cream on and added a cherry. It was delicious on a hot summer day.
