Finished Life of Fred- Farming

We were excited to see the lunar eclipse. We read articles on it, watched time lapses and learned that a blood moon lunar eclipse is rare and the next one happens eighteen years from now. We viewed part of the eclipse from down the street.

The boys' piano skills are improving. After going through all the Free Piano Lessons for Kids videos on youtube twice, we went onto the Alfred's Piano Basics books. The boys learned to play every song in the first book. They can even play them without looking at the page. I can't even do that! It's great to have music in the house. They've learned a Halloween one which is perfect for this month and also Jingle Bells for Christmas. They learn at least one song per week, though this past week Dagan learned 5 because he couldn't wait to finish the book.  They practice three days a week as part of our homeschool but they usually play everyday because they want to.

We just finished Life of Fred - Farming. So far we have done Apples, Butterflies, Cats, Dogs, Edgewood and Farming. Farming covered more complex addition and had lots of practice. Dagan likes to do the practice, whereas Sage rather do his math workbook instead. I'm on the fence about Life of Fred. The stories are weird and I don't like when they mention religion. Some chapters I find boring but others are entertaining. Some concepts seem relevant and others trivial. We cover one Life of Fred book per season. Maybe by the time winter rolls around, I'll be ready to tackle another one.
