Thai Food From Thai Basil

This month's country of study is Thailand. We were very inspired by my brother and his family who moved to Thailand two years ago to help people there. They learned to speak Thai, ate new foods, made a lot of new friends and had wonderful adventures. They told us about the Songkran festival the traditional New Years festival in which people threw water at each other to symbolize washing away the bad.

We listened to traditional Thai music and saw the different musical instruments they use. We tasted new fruits and learned the easy way to open a young coconut. The boys like to eat pad thai and spring rolls. I like to eat prik khing and pad kee mao. Sad to say our mangosteens were too old when we bought them. We will have to go in search of fresh ones another time to enjoy them.
