Garam Masala Chickpeas- A Healthy Snack


Dagan and Sage were studying India last month. Dagan's week was all about spices. For show and tell, he brought in Garam Masala Chana. First we made the garam masala by combining ground cumin, coriander, cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. We smelled, measured and observed the different spices. Then we roasted the chickpeas. First we drained and rinsed the canned chickpeas and then roasted them in the oven at 400 degrees F for 45 minutes stirring them every 15 minutes. We removed them from the oven then cooled them and sprinkled them with coarse salt and some garam masala. It was a yummy healthy snack.
